STEM education in practice
We believe science is best learned by building. We bring robotics and engineering in front of pupils and students as hands-on workshops, not as theory lectures.
The STEM DUO Association sets out to train the next generation of innovative engineers in Romania through competitive robotics and STEM education. We bring together students from Bucharest universities who build, program and test robots to international standards, with the aim of representing Romania at VEX U, the largest university robotics championship in the world.
Beyond competition, we are dedicated to promoting science and technology among young people, continuing the work through which we have already brought robotics to more than 20,000 participants. The association is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded by twin brothers Duminică Dănuț-Alexandru and Duminică Adrian-Cătălin.
We believe science is best learned by building. We bring robotics and engineering in front of pupils and students as hands-on workshops, not as theory lectures.
We host the DUO team, which competes in VEX U. Competition keeps our technical standard high and gives us experience we pass on.
We take part in science, research and robotics events across Romania, and we open the door to anyone who wants to see up close how a robot is built.
Every team member touches the technical side: design, build, programming, testing. There are no decorative roles.
The engineering notebook is not a competition formality — it is how we keep our technical decisions and explain them to those who come after us.
Everything we learn goes back into the community — through workshops, demonstrations and mentoring for teams just starting out.
We look for collaborations where partners see the result: presence at events, access to the team and to the projects we run.
The association’s field of activity covers STEM activities in the community and participation in science, research and robotics events across Romania.
We are adding the milestones here — founding the association, the first workshops, the first competitions — as we document them with dates and photos.
